At Suncatcher Forest School, our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and enriching environment where children can learn, grow, and build friendships through outdoor exploration. We believe that nature is the best classroom, offering endless opportunities for discovery, creativity, and adventure.
The outdoor classroom nurtures curiosity and confidence as children engage in hands-on experiences that spark a lifelong love for learning. Through child-led exploration and guided activities, we encourage independence, resilience, and a deep connection with the natural world.
Each morning begins with a circle time, where children gather to share stories, sing songs, and choose their activities for the day. Our daily rhythm is flexible, allowing kids to follow their interests while immersing themselves in nature.
We prioritize safety, inclusion, and a sense of belonging. Our groups are always led by two experienced instructors, ensuring children receive guidance, encouragement, and supervision throughout the day.
We maintain an open-door policy for families, fostering strong communication and community involvement.
Enrolling Children from 30 Months & Up – We welcome young explorers as they take their first steps in outdoor learning, offering a developmentally appropriate, play-based approach.
Extra Curricular Activities – Our program extends beyond outdoor play, incorporating music, movement, storytelling, creative arts, STEM activities, and cultural exploration to support a well-rounded learning experience.
Inclusive & Accessible – We accept state subsidies, making our enriching nature-based education accessible to more families.
Private & Scenic Location – Nestled on private land on Cougar Mountain in Issaquah, our school provides a secure, quiet, and inspiring environment for children to run, climb, explore, and connect with nature every day.
Supporting Bilingual Families & English Learners – We celebrate language diversity and offer a welcoming space for children from multilingual households, helping them develop confidence in both English and their home language.
Family-Friendly Approach – Transitioning to a new learning environment is a big step! We offer a two-week trial period for new families to ensure a smooth and positive experience for both children and parents.
At Suncatcher, we go beyond traditional early education, empowering children through outdoor experiences, self-directed play, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Join our community and watch your child thrive in nature!
Suncatcher Forest School camps are designed to be accessible, welcoming, and enriching for all children, providing a space where everyone can thrive, feel a sense of belonging, and create lasting memories in the natural world.

Strong Social Bonds – Through teamwork, storytelling, and group challenges, children build friendships, collaboration skills, and confidence in a supportive, mixed-age environment.
